How to 3D Scan the Bottom of an Object
Want to capture the bottom of an object in your 3D scan? With the KIRI Engine, there are two ways to do it:
Use Object Capture on a LiDAR-equipped iPhone Pro or iPad Pro
Scan the object once, then flip it over and scan it again. This helps capture the missing underside and build a more complete model.
Use Photo Scan or 3D Gaussian Splatting Scan
Take one full set of photos around the object, then flip it over and take another set. You can also do a third orientation for better coverage. When uploading, make sure Auto Object Masking is turned on.
For best results:
- Use textured objects: This works better on objects with rich textures. Avoid featureless, reflective, or transparent surfaces.
- Keep the whole object in frame: Try to include the entire object in every shot.
- Avoid close-ups: A slightly wider framing usually gives more consistent results.
Following these tips will help you capture more of the object, including the bottom, and get a more complete 3D model.
