You captured an object, a room, or a whole scene from the real world. The scan came out great. Now what?

For many creators, the next challenge is finding a better way to present and share those captures. A static screenshot loses the depth. A raw screen recording of you moving around the scene does not do the scan justice. And more advanced rendering workflows add complexity when you just want to share a scan quickly.

That is why we built KIRI Maker: a free, open-source, browser-based tool that turns public 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) scans into animated, shareable videos. No install, no signup, no render queue.

What KIRI Maker Does

KIRI Maker loads a 3D Gaussian Splatting scene from a public share link and gives you a creative playground for presenting it:

  • 9 particle scatter and assembly effects. Your scan can dissolve into particles and reassemble itself, useful for creating reveal animations.

  • 16 built-in camera animation presets. Orbits, push-ins, flyovers. Pick one, preview it, done. You can also set custom keyframes for full control.

  • Two rendering modes. Switch between Particle Mode and the original reconstructed scene (3D Reality) at any point in your shot.

  • 1080p video export at 60 FPS. Recorded directly in the browser and saved as MP4 or WebM, depending on your browser's codec support.

  • Hand gesture controls. On desktop, webcam-based hand tracking lets you scatter particles with an open palm, gather them with a fist, and scale the scene with two hands.

Everything runs locally in your browser, with support for Chrome, Edge, and Safari across desktop and mobile layouts.

Bring In a Scan

KIRI Maker was designed to make 3D Gaussian Splatting content easier to present and share, wherever the scan comes from. It accepts public share links from:

  • KIRI Engine 3DGS share links

  • Polycam capture share links

  • Luma capture share links

  • Local PLY files**, uploaded directly

Paste a linkor upload a PLY file, and your scan is ready to animate.

No scans yet? There is a dice button on the landing page that loads one of four sample scans at random, so you can try every feature before capturing anything yourself.

How to Turn a 3D Scan into a Video (Step by Step)

  1. Get a public share link for your scan from KIRI Engine, Polycam, or Luma, or have your PLY file ready.

  2. Open KIRI Maker in Chrome, Edge, or Safari, then paste the link or upload the PLY file, and select Load.

  3. Tune the look. Adjust particle size, brightness, density, opacity, and background cropping until the scene reads well.

  4. Pick a camera animation. Choose one of the 16 presets, or drop custom keyframes to define your own move.

  5. Add an effect. Apply one of the 9 particle scatter or assembly effects.

  6. Preview, then export. Watch the full move in the preview, then record it as a 1080p 60 FPS video straight from the browser.

The whole flow takes a few minutes once you have a link. There is no account, no watermark, and no render farm on the other end: your browser does the work.

Why We Made It Open Source

KIRI Maker is available under the MIT License, with the full source on GitHub.

We wanted this experiment to be accessible to anyone interested in exploring 3DGS. The tool is built on open projects like Three.js, Spark, and MediaPipe, and keeping it open means you can self-host it, fork it, or dig into how the particle system and camera animation work. Is KIRI Maker free? Yes. It is free to use and open source under the MIT License. There is no paid tier.

Do I need to install anything? No. KIRI Maker runs entirely in the browser. For the best experience, use the latest version of Chrome, Edge, or Safari.

What can you do with a 3D Gaussian Splatting scan? Beyond viewing it, you can animate it. With KIRI Maker, a 3DGS scan can be turned into a shareable video with particle effects and camera animations, used as a product showcase, a location flythrough, or a social media reveal, all without 3D software. For deeper pipelines, splats can also be rendered in Blender with KIRI's free 3DGS Render Add-on or converted to meshes for game engines.

What file formats does it export? It exports MP4 or WebM video at up to 1080p and 60 FPS. The exact format depends on your browser's MediaRecorder and codec support.

Can I use scans from Polycam or Luma? Yes. KIRI Maker accepts public share links from KIRI Engine, Polycam, and Luma. You can also upload a local PLY file directly if you don't have a share link.

Does it work on mobile? Yes, KIRI Maker has a dedicated mobile layout. Gesture controls are desktop-only, since they rely on webcam-based hand tracking.

Do I need a 3D scan to try it? No. The dice button on the landing page loads one of four bundled sample scans so you can test every feature first.
